    47th National Solar Conference and Summit

    August 5-8, 2018 | Boulder, Colorado

    The American Solar Energy Society heads to the campus of The University of Colorado, Boulder, this August 5-8, 2018, to continue the conversation on maximizing renewable energy and to forge pathways for communities in every state to follow to achieve the renewable energy transformation.

    Program Summary:

    Join Participants from All Disciplines to Democratize the Conversation About What We Need and What We Bring to Achieve the Renewables Transformation

    At this unique Conference and Summit, participants will map three Pathways to Renewables and commit to follow-up actions:

    • Broadening access to renewables to give everyone a choice and a voice;
    • Orchestrating a cleaner electricity grid for energy in buildings, transportation, and other sectors via renewables, energy efficiency and storage;
    • Working toward energy resilience, preparedness and recovery from accelerating climate emergencies.

    Each of these tracks draws upon diverse technical disciplines, educational and political strategies, and home-grown solutions. Each will start with a general session overview from inspiring leaders, followed by a full day of talks that look at each topic from many angles. In keeping with the Summit format, the agenda also provides ample time for participant questions, discussion and the spark of new ideas.

    A poster session will call out these Pathway topics and will reward authors of select posters with a chance to take the microphone in a final panel session.

    A fourth track, Research Pathways, will accommodate "outside the box" thinkers and researchers and will have a more traditional format. In addition, ASES will host a one-day, co-located workshop that will draw out the theme of Broadening Access to Renewables, by focusing on case studies and local solar project replication from the U.S. Department of Energy Solar in Your Community Challenge.

    ASES will again publish proceedings in cooperation with the International Solar Energy Society (ISES). In addition, a special report, Pathways to Renewables, will document this Summit. ASES is working with media partners to keep the conversation going.

    The official Call for Participants has been extended to close on April 13.  (Now Closed)

    See the website, www.ases.org, for more details. Stay tuned for updates on ASES Solar Awards, Women in Solar Luncheon and other events, including a co-located workshop for participants in the U.S. Department of Energy's Solar in Your Community Challenge.

    The main conference will be held at the  Glenn Miller Ballroom. Questions? Contact solar2018@ases.org. See you there!
